GoCar is constantly working to provide a convenient, high quality and flexible service for you, our valued members. With this in mind, we’ve reflected on how we can continue to grow, improve, and ensure that our service and our vehicles are of the highest quality possible.
As part of this, we’re in the process of bringing a large number of new vehicles onto our fleet, replacing older cars & vans. This year alone, we have already introduced 250 2019-registered vehicles onto the GoCar fleet and will introduce another 250 before the end of this year. Meanwhile, we have removed all 2016 vehicles from our fleet and will remove the majority of 2017 cars by the end of 2019. By the end of this year, almost 60% of the GoCar fleet will be 2019 registered vehicles.
You’ll also see us bring more and more new crossover SUVs (like the Hyundai Kona) into our GoTripper class in the coming months, based on very positive feedback about these cars up to now.
Unfortunately, the costs of delivering our service are rising. This specifically relates to increased insurance premia, the rise in VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) and changes to Motor Tax bands due to the World harmonised Light-Vehicle Test (WLTP).
To allow for these growing costs, from Sunday 1st September, GoCar will be introducing new standard hourly rates for four of our vehicle classes.
- GoCity vehicles will move to €9 per hour, instead of €8
- GoTrippers and GoVans will move to €11 per hour, instead of €10
- GoCargos will move to €14 per hour, from €12 per hour
We will also be making the following changes:
- The GoFar reduced kilometre price will change to 15c.
- Our minimum booking time will move to one hour.
Introducing these changes is a necessity to ensure that we can continue to provide the service that our customers rely on.
Our standard day-rates are not going to change, and we plan to continue our very popular summer day-rate promo prices throughout August and September. This means that you can continue to get away in a GoCar from €48 per day through to the end of September

* When you book one of these vehicles in September, this is the rate that you’ll pay for taking the car for a day.
** Any bookings made before the price changeover point (the midnight between 31st August and 1st September) will be charged at the current prices.
